Another year off

With apologies, I will not be able to organize the Blogathon this year. I have very good, very personal reasons for this. There is still a possibility of other organizers stepping in, and we'll let you know if that happens. I hope to be back on board next year.

Hey Bloggers--want to be a part of the first Blogathon podcast?

We are working on what we hope will be the first edition of a monthly podcast. In this inaugural recording, we'd like to include a montage of bloggers saying "Thank you" to their sponsors.

Help us build next years Blogathon in the forum! We'll be talking about ideas and plans all year.

Want to know when we're open for signups in 2008? Sign up for the mailing list. I do try to get regular mailings out during the year--about once a month--but usually, it's just the announcement mailer. This year it helped a lot of folks remember to get signed up! Our spam policy: DIE SPAMMERS. So no, we won't sell anything, ever. If you have received spam from Blogathon.org, it's because we're a popular website, and spammers fake blogathon.org as a return address--it isn't us. We would never spam!

We have big ideas going forward. We're hoping to post a monthly podcast, stories from bloggers, and lots of other things during the off-season. Stay tuned!

Every year it happens. Doesn't matter how we send thousands of emails, just the act of doing so lands us in the spam heap for some folks. So please, be sure to check your spam folder for sponsor emails. They will say blogathon.org, and may also say cornerhost on them, as that's the server we sent from.

Dreama over at Again, I Said is doing name that tune with short clips of various songs; she's blogging this year for the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network.

Over at Lawsy.net, Johnny has posted a "tiredness update", something that plenty of us can empathize with. I would question, however, the tiredness of the guy behind him - that guy looks like he's just downed a couple of cases of Red Bull. Jonny is blogging this year for Child's Play.

Lastly, Arthur at We Were the Cool Kids is blogging to raise money for Doctors Without Borders. He's devoting his 'thon efforts to debunking (or verifying!) various urban myths, including that myth that a famed college library is sinking into the ground because it wasn't designed to accommodate the weight of the books.
